Fix Your Eyes On Jesus

‘Tis the season for getting married, right?  Some very dear people in my life have gotten married recently. Oh the beauty, the music, the pictures and videos of lovely dresses, perfect tuxedos, and the joy that is felt on such a special day!  But nothing is more endearing than the look that the bride and bridegroom exchange.  The bride walks down that aisle to the love of her life.  He waits for her.  She longs for him.  The two will soon be one.  What a miracle.  The bride’s eyes might look here and there at beloved guests that have come from far and near, but there is only one fixed look that belongs to her beloved.

Fix your eyes on Jesus.

Hebrews 12:2 says, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…”

We are His bride.  Jesus is the Bridegroom.  One day our precious Savior will come for His church and whisk us away to our eternal honeymoon.  Until that day, “let us fix our eyes on Jesus.”  Let us not look to anyone else to fulfill us or satisfy us.  Let us not gaze at the gods of this world.  No way!  But “let us fix our eyes on Jesus.”  Jesus is all Beautiful and Wonderful.  He is the only one worthy of our attention and adoration.

Scriptures to Meditate on:

Song of Songs 4:1; 6:4-5

Psalm 121:1-2

Mark 12:30

  1. This is my favorite post so far. The important point that was made through the use of the wedding images made me catch my breath. I liked how the Scriptures further illustrated that point! Thanks for using your God-given gifts to edify people, and to serve and glorify God!
