I was waiting for water to boil so I could cook. I was staring at my stainless steel pot just waiting for those big bubbles to start bubbling forth. It became a reminder to me of how we long for the Lord to overflow us with His presence. We want to be set ablaze for Him. “Set me on fire for you Lord.” Let this thought be the springboard for so many other ways to pray throughout your day.
When you wake up- “Thank You Lord for another day!”
As you brush your teeth- “Cleanse my mouth. Guard my tongue. Help me to speak the truth in love. Let kindness flow from me.”
As you shower- “Lord, cleanse me within and heal every part of my body.”
As you put on your clothes- “Lord, I want to be clothed with the full armor of God.” (Read Ephesians 6:11-18)
As you travel to school and work- “Lord, please watch over me and all those I pass on my way. Give me patience during my journey.”
As you work on that urgent task- “Lord, please equip me with your wisdom and energy. Allow creativity, knowledge and inspiration to flow through me as I complete this assignment.”
As you cook for your family- “Lord, help me to truly minister to the various needs of my family. Let this meal be a way to show them how much I care for them. Let it provide the nourishment they need for their various tasks.”
As you do the dishes- “Lord, thank you for the food we were able to enjoy. Please touch those who are struggling to find food. Help those in any financial hardship.”
As you take out the garbage- “Lord, cleanse this house and my heart. Make this home your sanctuary.”
As you are making that phone call- “Lord, make me a voice of blessing to this person. Help them to hear Your love in me. Give me words of wisdom to speak.”
As you get ready for bed- “Thank you Lord Jesus for how you have been with me this entire day! Your faithfulness is indeed so great.”
The Lord is near you when you call him. He hears your heart. He understands every sigh. Transform your day to day activities into times of powerful prayer. Perhaps this is what Paul alluded to when he said “Pray continually” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
