It had been a while since I deadheaded a red rose bush from my front side garden. As I kept clipping away old rose buds, I realized that I had forgotten the blueberry bush I had planted a few years ago. It was sitting happily next to the red rose bush. It had not shown much fruit in the past so I probably just neglected to check on it. But as I cut off the old flowers from the rose bush, to my surprise, I found clusters and clusters of pretty blueberries close by. What a lovely sight! And to think I would have missed out on the benefits of that part of the garden had I not taken the time to look again. Those berries were a nice addition to breakfast!
Here’s the big take away: Look again!
Look again child of God!
Look again at that Bible passage. Dissect it and glean all the spiritual truths to be found there for your soul. Don’t be in such a hurry with the Word of God.
Look again at your parenting. What revisions do you need to make? Who is leading who in your home?
Look again at your spiritual disciplines. Where have you been negligent? How is your prayer life? Bible reading habit? Church attendance? Giving?
Look again at your relationship with Christ. Do you have peace with God through Jesus Christ? How have you grown?
Look again at that relationship at school and at work. Is God honored by it? Who could use more of your friendship?
Look again at how you spend your time. What activities are robbing you of precious time? What activities need to be picked up again?
The simple lesson for all of us is take the time to look again. Wonderful discoveries emerge when you look again…maybe even a bowl of sweet goodness to share!
